Lollapalooza was a dream come true! From starting the day with lovelytheband to ending with Vampire Weekend and all the artists in between, we didn't let the nearly-100 degree heat ruin our fun!
I had been dreaming of going to a big music concert for a long time, so when the opportunity came to go to Lollapalooza, the planning began! We attended only one day of the actual festival, on Saturday.
The day started with lovelytheband and it was the day after they just released their first album. Their song "Broken," which was one of my top 50 songs on Spotify in 2017. It was the perfect start to the day!
Between lovelytheband and Vampire Weekend, we saw some sets of musicians I would not have usually watched like Sir Sly, Hippie Sabotage, Carly Rae Jepsen, Luke Combs, and St. Vincent. St. Vincent was my favorite surprise of the day. People had recommended her music to me for years, but this was the first time I actually really appreciated her music! I have been listening to her music since the concert.
The night ended with Vampire Weekend. They were my second-ever concert back in 2013 so it was amazing to see them live again and be in the audience when they announced that their new album was done!
Lollapalloza also has aftershows, which are just as much fun as the festivals just in a different way. We went to The Wombats and Future Feats after party show, which started at 11 PM and ended around 1:30 AM and was at a small venue at Lincoln Hall. The next night, we went to a Walk the Moon DJ Set.
When in Chicago, it is worth the visit the the historic Wrigley Field, even if, like me, you had no idea what was going on in the baseball game!
Other locations visited in Chicago included: Chicago 360 for the amazing views of the city!
Of course Millenium Park was also on the agenda.
I have had this shirt since 2015 and finally wore it for Lollapalooza!
