Did I get all my homework done over break? Well, most of it... Did I get caught up on my laundry and cleaning? No, not even close. As a matter of fact, I just created even more cleaning for myself with my entirely unsuccessful attempt at making Brussels sprouts tonight. I usually use fresh Brussels sprouts and steam them, but frozen was less expensive so I decided to give the directions a try. First, I used the stovetop method but burned them. Then, I tried to microwave them and managed to burn the plastic (supposedly microwave safe) lid when I set it on a hot burner (I seem to have issues with this). The Brussels sprouts themselves turned out fine. ![]() I topped the Brussels sprouts with chipotle seasoning and they're sharing a plate with my Morningstar black bean burger topped with queso con salsa. At least I got a photo and dinner after all the catastrophe! I'm still having trouble getting the plastic off of the burner...any suggestions? Much of my spring break was spent watching animated children's films and consuming ice cream. As Chantelle suggested in the comments on my last post, it is time for another list! Top Ten Favorite Animated Children's Films (not counting Christmas movies): 1) Brave 2) Frozen 3) Despicable Me 2 4) Despicable Me 5) Finding Nemo 6) Monster's University 7) Tangled 8) Planes 9) Princess and the Frog 10) Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs I highly debated whether I prefer Brave or Frozen, but I realized Brave narrowly won (the Scottish setting probably helped!) Do you agree with my choices? Did I leave out any glaring animated children's films? I left out Christmas movies...that will be for another list when the Christmas season returns! I haven't watched all of the 2014 World Figure Skating Championships yet, but I am thrilled with the results! Mao Asada and Yuzuru Hanyu both win at home in Japan!? Carolina Kostner and Javier Fernandez both win bronze!? The US ladies and dance teams keep three spots and the men earn back the third spot!? Yes, definitely one happy skater here! ![]() Here I am with three-time world champion Mao Asada (my favorite skater ever, if you haven't heard me mention that) when she competed in Colorado Springs at the 2012 Four Continents Championships. She was innocently buying tights when I asked for a photo, but she kindly obliged! Did you watch worlds? What did you think of the results? Check back tomorrow for another post about my weekend!
