I'm thinking of creating one post a week in which I feature a few of my favorite places. Does this sound like a good idea? I was initially thinking of creating one concise post, but that is simply too hard! :) Now to respond to the preview: where was the photo below taken? If you guessed Madrid, Spain, you were right. When I was in ninth grade, I traveled to Spain with my school. This experience fed my love of traveling and was nothing short of life-changing. The anniversary of my trip is coming up, so look for a more in-depth post in two days! :) ![]() Poás Volcano, Costa Rica. This photo was taken on a school trip in tenth grade. When our tour guide told us we were going to the top of a volcano, I did not think we were literally going to the top of a volcano. The stench of sulfur was strong and every few minutes the steam thickened. It was gorgeous, but we were all worried about an undetected eruption. According to Wikipedia, it has erupted 39 times since 1828, including once last month! It appears our fears were not unfounded! ![]() This is a photo my mom took on a trip to Sanibel Island, Florida last August. I put it on Pinterest and so far the pin has received 201 repins and 12 likes! Sanibel Island is one of my favorite vacation destinations and I usually visit at least once a year. With no building higher than the tallest palm tree and only a couple chain stores, the island itself is a relic of "old Florida." ![]() Of course, I have to post at least one photo of London! When this photo was taken, I was only a couple hours off the transatlantic flight and had not slept for nearly forty-eight hours. I remember feeling like I was having an out of body experience and being so excited that I was half-delirious. I remember finally dozing off on the Tube and waking up to find a charming, elderly British woman beside me. She remarked that she had never seen so many American college students in London during one afternoon and we somehow got on the subject of creative writing. She wished me a pleasant trip and got off at her stop. I dozed back off and when I woke, I wondered if it had all been a dream. I also recall getting ridiculously excited when I learned that the automated voice on the Tube really does say, "Mind the gap!" I have had the opportunity to travel so many exciting places and love talking about them. Where are your favorite travel destinations?
